Hi there! I’m Brynn Young. I was born and raised in central Nebraska. A glow golf tournament led me to my handsome husband named Dreu, and he is by far the best thing that has ever happened to me! He is definitely my better half, and he's just as handsome on the inside as he is on the out.
We have a yellow lab named Wylie, otherwise known as Wy Wy- he's way too spoiled. My friends are shocked when they see my love for that fur baby. I was attacked by a pit bull in elementary school - no lie - so you can imagine their surprise. After that attack, I was never really afraid of dogs, but I didn't exactly have a love for animals. I have taken a complete 180 since that episode in second grade, and love our Wy Wy more than anything! I now understand the madness behind those crazy dog parents, because I'm definitely one of them. I swear he's human!
At the end of 2014, roughly a year after a trip to a South African orphanage, I launched Philia. The children at the orphanage had a huge impact on my life and were my inspiration to start this company. I’ve always longed to own my own business, large or small, and I value companies that have a charitable heart. Growing up, I had a love for stylish and chic apparel and a passion to make a difference.
Philia is a contemporary clothing line that celebrates simplicity and inspiring messages. We design tops that aren’t specific to a season, but can be worn year round. We like to keep it simple and to keep our shirts about the message. So, style them up, accessorize, throw on a layer, and spread kindness, hope, joy, laughter, truth, or encouragement.
Our mission is to connect and empower women of all generations to live a style that makes them feel good about themselves while giving back to those in need. We donate 10% of our profits to help feed hungry children through the Backpack Program: a program we wholeheartedly believe in. We value the lives of real women, and we provide bold and timeless pieces we hope make our customers feel as stylish and beautiful as they truly are.
I believe that God can be glorified through fashion and the things that others may deem “superficial.” As a believer, I know that true joy and self-worth comes through the saving work of Jesus Christ. What I choose to put on my body is not my identity, but rather an expression of the love for the beautiful things that He has given me. This is my expression, and I hope that through this blog we can connect through fun stuff like fashion, but more importantly, we can empower one another to live a unique and intentional life.
